At THREE Duvets, we have a choice of fillings available but wanted to talk a bit more about our alpaca option and its benefits.

With our unique, patented THREE Duvets shared bedding solution, each of you can choose a half section with the filling and tog equivalency that you want – and your partner can do the same. Once you’ve joined the two sections together, side by side, to create one full sized duvet, each of you will have your very own personalised bedding but still snuggle up under the same duvet.

What makes alpaca an extra luxurious filling?

Like sheep’s wool, alpaca wool is a natural and sustainable fibre that is breathable and temperature regulating. It works with you and the ambient temperature of your bedroom to help keep your core body temperature balanced whilst you sleep. It is a finer, softer fibre than wool and also has a fluctuating tog equivalency because of its ability to provide warmth when you need it, or release heat if you are too warm. We offer two weights: lightweight or medium weight. You can read more about togs for our alpaca duvet sections in a previous blog

Is alpaca hypoallergenic?

As well as being lanolin-free, alpaca wool is naturally dust mite resistant, so is hypoallergenic. The fibres wick moisture away if you sweat at night, releasing it into the air. No damp, humid bedding means no dust mites! So, as with wool, this makes alpaca a great filling for helping to alleviate the symptoms of asthma, triggered by dust mite allergens. Alpaca wool is also resistant to the build-up of micro bacteria, which makes it a more hygienic filling than synthetic or feather and down.

Why the alpaca used in THREE Duvets is so special…

All of our alpaca wool comes from British alpaca flocks., approved by the British Alpaca Society. We only select top quality, naturally white alpaca wool so that we don’t have to bleach it. Our selected alpaca farmers adhere to the highest standards of animal welfare, and so the alpacas are only shorn when they need to be shorn, which might not be every year. This means that our alpaca filling is available in small quantities each year, and when it’s gone, it’s gone…until next year’s shearing.

If you have any questions about our alpaca wool filled THREE Duvets sections (or any of our other fillings), then please get in touch with the team and we can chat about suitable options for you and your partner.
